OUR SERVICES

Throughout every region in the world where there is a high corrosion control demand, ENGCORR provides expertise, products and equipment, and services necessary to extend the life of clients’ assets. Our engineering team is continuously researching the latest technologies and techniques to ensure the highest quality products and services in accordance with industry standards.

OFFSHORE CP

CATHODIC PROTECTION

Managing and maintaining the sustainability and integrity of the assets in the water treatment plants, wastewater, chemical, and energy infrastructures exposed to corrosive environments such as underground, seawater, production fluids, bacteria, and high temperatures is the core focus of our corrosion and cathodic protection team. Our engineers provide optimal solutions for both existing installations with end-of-life protection systems and new infrastructures.

CP Descriptions

Cathodic Protection (CP) has been a widely used method for many years to prevent the corrosion and often in association with coating or painting system. Based on the cathodic polarization of the metallic surfaces, CP aims to reduce the oxidation reactions (corrosion) on the protected material surfaces through the sacrificial or impressed current anode systems.  The sacrificial and impressed current anodes have showed excellent efficiency and performance in increasing structures operating life expectancy when correctly designed.  The ENGCORR corrosion team has extensive experience in designing both sacrificial and impressed current CP systems for a wide range of infrastructures. Our designs are performed with respect to clients' standards, international codes, industry regulations and as well as our many years of experience.  All CP system equipment is carefully selected considering the field operation specifications for optimal performance over the lifetime. We provide CP engineering consultancy at all stages of the project life cycle starting from Front End Engineering Design (FEED) to the execution phase covering:

  • Pre-Design feasibility study

  • Conceptual detailed Design

  • Engineering hardware system

  • Designed system analysis

  • General Arrangement / Layout Drawings

  • Reports

      Installation and Commissioning

Our corrosion team has the oilfield experienced, are qualified and certified personnel to supervise the installation of both Sacrificial and Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (SACP & ICCP) systems on offshore infrastructures. Our team has the expertise to inspect and troubleshooting ICCP systems, including transformer rectifiers, electrical cables, and all other components to ensure the installation is performed correctly. Our personnel have the adequate safety training and procedure to safely lead and operate the installation and commissioning of CP system equipment.

      Potential Attenuation Modeling

Computational modeling of the typical distribution of potential along a pipeline cathodically polarized with one or multiple anodes equally spaced is one of our team specialties. The potential attenuation can be evaluated using different approaches such as those on the industry codes like ISO 15589-2 and DNV-RP-F103. The ISO procedure gives an indication of the current and potential distribution from the drain point. Whereas the DNV approach determine the maximum throwing power distance between two consecutive drain anodes  to keep the pipe cathodically protected.

However, Boundary Element Modeling and mathematical equation computations can also be used to evaluate the potential distribution along the pipeline. ENGCORR has the capability to provide a modeling assessment engineering for various configurations of pipelines.

INSPECTION

Offshore facilities require periodic inspections to track the CP system polarization, metal corrosion and the coating/painting degradation level. In general, timely inspections are required by regulations, aiming to ensure that the integrity of assets is in good condition, can operate properly, and in accordance with all safety requirements.

Site visit inspection

The field inspection services we offer are:

      Corrosion Control:

This is a topside level 1 inspection or a non-destructive inspection method that includes visual observation of the facility protective coating and the  metal structure degradation conditions.

      Corrosion Coupon:

This includes design, installation, data acquisition, real time monitoring and analyzing corrosion coupon data.

      Cathodic Protection system:

This is a non-destructive inspection method that includes visual, testing, polarization readings (including potential, voltage, current and electrical continuity), and troubleshooting of all the topside CP system equipment, interference and the potential readings.
